SOFT PUNCH’S NEW SONG CAN'T GET OUT OF "MY HEAD"

Soft Punch’s new single “My Head” from their upcoming album ‘Above Water’ tells the story of a never-ending struggle with oneself. With lyrics like “pull me out of my bed, get me out of my head,” the song depicts a situation many people are finding themselves in: the feeling of being stuck in your bed, hiding from the world, and wishing you could hide forever. I have always said that one of our biggest critics is our very own minds, and this song is a reminder of a normalized struggle with mental illness.

The song is an indie rock pop single that will have you dancing and reciting the very catchy “oh-ohs” throughout the song. The song was inspired by the singer’s own difficulties in dealing with self-sabotaging thoughts, which made the song feel personal. As challenging as life may be, this song makes me feel seen in this crazy thing called life.

The song resembles similar rock artists like The Strokes, Blink 182, and the Plain White T’s. The guitar and drums carry the entire song, along with the catchy chorus lines. I enjoyed the chaotic, messy guitar solo ending in the song, which further depicts how scattered our thoughts can really be.

Just getting through the day can be hard, but maybe giving the song a listen can make it a bit easier. Enjoy :)
